Do you know the milling cutter commonly used in machining?

First of all, the milling cutter is a multi-tooth rotary cutter, and each cutter tooth is equivalent to the turning tool fixed on the milling cutter rotating surface.
When the tungsten steel milling cutter is used for milling, the cutting edge involved in the cutting is longer and there is no empty stroke, so the productivity is higher. There are many kinds of milling cutter, different structures, and it is widely used. According to the use can be divided into three types: machining surface with milling cutter, machining groove with milling cutter, machining forming surface with milling cutter.
Milling cutters of common specifications have been standardized and are generally produced by professional tool factories. Several commonly used milling cutters are introduced.
One, end mill
End milling cutter is one of the most widely used milling cutters on CNC machine tools. The end mill has a cutter on both the cylinder and the end face. The cutting edge on the cylindrical surface is the main cutting edge, and the end face is distributed with an auxiliary cutting edge. The main cutting edge is generally spiral teeth, which can increase the cutting stability and improve the machining accuracy. They can be cut simultaneously or separately. However, because there is no cutting edge in the center of the end face of the ordinary end mill, the end mill cannot be fed axially when working. The end edge is mainly used for machining the bottom surface perpendicular to the side. It is mainly used for surface milling, slot milling, step milling and profile milling.
Two, three edge milling cutter
Three side milling cutter for short three side milling cutter: three cutting edges have a back Angle, sharp edge, light and fast cutting. Three face milling cutter can be divided into straight teeth three face milling cutter and staggered teeth three face milling cutter. The utility model is mainly used for machining stepped surfaces and shallow grooves with one end or two ends through on a horizontal milling machine. In addition to the main cutting edge on the circumference, there are auxiliary cutting edges on both sides of the three-edge milling cutter, which improves the cutting conditions, improves the cutting efficiency and reduces the surface roughness value. However, the width changes greatly after regrinding, and the three-sided insert milling cutter can solve this problem.
Third, face milling cutter
The end face and outer circle of the face milling cutter perpendicular to the tool bar have cutting edges, which are mainly used for milling planes. The outer cutting edge is the main cutting edge, and the cutting edge of the end plays the same role as the scraper. The edge of the face mill is shorter than that of the socket end mill. Face milling cutters are mainly used for machining stepped surfaces and planes on end milling machines or horizontal milling machines, especially for machining larger surfaces. A face mill with a main declination Angle of 90° can mill a wide stepped surface at the bottom. Face milling cutters are used for machining flat surfaces. At the same time, there are many tool teeth involved in cutting, but also has the polishing effect of the sub-cutting edge, so that the surface roughness value after processing is small. Therefore, large cutting parameters can be used with high productivity. It is widely used.
Fourth, thread milling cutter
The traditional thread machining methods mainly include cutting thread with thread turning tool or hand tapping, using tap and die thread. With the development of CNC machining technology, especially the emergence of three-axis CNC machining system, a more advanced thread machining method - thread CNC milling can be realized. Compared with traditional thread machining methods, thread milling has great advantages in machining accuracy and efficiency, and is not limited by thread structure and thread rotation direction. For example, a thread mill can process multiple internal and external threads with different rotation directions. For threads that are not allowed to have transitional fastenings or undergrooves, it is difficult to process with traditional turning methods or taps and molds, but it is easy to achieve with CNC milling.
In addition, the durability of the thread milling cutter is more than ten times or even dozens of times that of the tap. In addition, it is very convenient to adjust the thread diameter during CNC thread milling, which is difficult to do with taps and molds. Because the thread milling technology has many advantages, it has been widely used in the mass production of threads in developed countries. With the development of CNC machine tools in China, it has gradually been accepted and loved by the majority of Chinese customers. Thread milling is accomplished with the help of the three-axis linkage function of the CNC machining center machine tool and the G02 or G03 spiral interpolation command.
As an advanced tool with rapid development in recent years, thread milling cutter is more and more widely accepted by enterprises, and shows excellent processing performance. It has become a powerful weapon for enterprises to reduce the cost of thread processing, improve the efficiency and solve the problem of thread processing.
